Karin and Andy had married 20 years ago. They now wanted to have the celebration they couldn't afford then! They have three children and wanted to ensure the party was one that all generations would enjoy.
The Party
Andy is a motorbike enthusiast and Karin loves classic films. They wanted to incorporate these two interests into their party. I suggested a couple on a motorbike motif for their stationery and worded the invitations 'Twenty years ago, we rode off into the sunset…'
They both love the colour purple, so we settled on that as the colour theme along with lime to give the flowers some 'zing'.
The marquee was designed to fit their garden, leaving an area for a fireworks display and play area for the children.
Guests arrived to Pimms and canapés served on the terrace area of the marquee. A jazz quartet was playing and a magician circulating keeping all the guests entertained.
The terrace was decorated with poseur tables draped with lime cloths and adorned with mirror boxes with domes of fragrant limes.
As dinner was announced, guests sought out their tables on the movie themed table plan and made their way to the purple draped tables decorated with 3 styles of flower arrangements.
After dinner, Karin and Andy cut their Notting Hill inspired cake and made a short speech. We then kabuki-dropped the curtains in the marquee to reveal 'the nightclub' - a vibrantly lit area with stage and dancefloor, cocktail bar (with lit motif above it), mirror Espresso bar and black leather 'lounge' area. The band started and the dancefloor filled.
Meanwhile in the house, the crèche disco had opened and the young ones were having a party of their own.
At 10pm we announced the fireworks and guests were treated to an amazing 10 minute display set to 5 of Karin and Andy's favourite songs and finishing with a lance work motorbike firing rockets from its spinning wheels!
